Microcredit is the new rage, where microloans (very small loans) are sought for entrepreneurs who don’t have much money to even start a business. These particular people cannot achieve a normal loan sanction because they have no verifiable credit history, no collateral to back them up and an unsure income.
Microcredit is a financial innovation that is known to have been started by Grameen Bank in Bangladesh. This has enabled the countrymen who cannot afford to sustain themselves through self employment to get a chance to do so. Due to the success of microcredit, in the shadow of large financial institution calling it a potential failure, many institutions have given it credibility. This form of finance has seen a lot of countries like Ukraine, Russia and Israel to follow suit in overcoming poverty in certain parts of the country. It should be duly noted that The United Nations declared 2005 the International Year of Microcredit.
